Autolite 1100 automatic to manual choke conversion?

I've never tried this- but I was curious- if I had the necessary linkages from a manual choke 1100, would it be easy to change an automatic choke 1100 to a manual choke? I don't have an automatic choke version currently, otherwise I could tell. From pictures I've found, it looks like the automatic choke model has an extra casting it for the coil housing to screw into.

Thanks,

Jason

The bottom castings are different. I had the same idea until I got them side by side. I then tried a conversion kit, problem with the kits is they are designed for V engines so cable mounting requires a bit of work and when you are done they dont quite work like a manual choke does because of the way the cams are set. You have to step on the gas then pull the cable to get it set right. I just ended up getting a new tube and coil for the original and it has worked great ever since.

I can snap some pictures of both a manual and auto side by side if you still want to look into it.

No, that answers the question- I thought the castings looked different, but without a side-by-side comparison, I wasn't sure.

Thanks for the information!

Jason
