what's the guts look like,,,,, there's the L elbow and spring / keeper washer in the "tank area" , but up in the " chamber" thers a Piston? under the welsh plug? Problem is that the L elbow dropped out and I got it back in place by luck but it doesn't float up and down freely,, it's the misterously circled area in all the rebuild kits/areas that say don't go there... I need to rebuild my carb and deal with the semi free floating Elbow thing,,, the L tip presses againts a small BB and the jet

any hel/info is appreciated,,all the web sites just show the standard views and no info on the Power valve/elbow area

If the carb worked fine before that incident happened, it sure sounds like pressing the L-shaped lever back into place messed up free movement of the whole assembly. Free movement is essential for its proper function. Have you tried some light machine oil yet?

Not trying to spoil your party, but your best bet is a replacement carb now.

If you're bound to this particular carb and mechanically inclined, I suggest removing the plug, removing the piston assembly, measuring piston and piston bore using micrometers, probably sleeving the bore and turning a new piston from bar stock bronze, checking the L-arm for straightness, reassembly and sealing with a fresh plug.
