i rebuilt my carb today on a 170,it does not seem to want to run right,now i see posts in here of guys plugging up the SCV,are these valves a problem? or are these carbs just a problem in general? am i better off adapting one of the 'carters' that i'm reading about in here? i know nothing about these carbs, i usually run V-8s with an Autolite 4V or if i have no choice a Holley 600. or am i better off just waiting for one of those FSSP aluminum heads,so i can have more choices of carbs?

The carb/dizzy combo is really quite reliable, if not a world beater. You need to go back and check your assembly instructions step by step. Make sure you follow the sequence for setting all the adjustments. Make sure timing and idle are set correctly.
