Autolite 1101 onto an early 200?

Hello all,
I have a stock 66 200 with an Autolite 1100 on it and I want to upgrade it to an 1101.I had posed a similar question regarding this in the past.I was under the impression that to do this swap I would need a spacer off of a 250? I recently acquired a 250 spacer off of a Maverick and no dice. So I'm wondering what are people doing as far as mounting this carb? Thanks

Hmmmmm, well, without pictures I'd guess they're making their own adapter plates...

What's the difference in the 1100 vs the 1101?

Visually they look about the same,The difference is that the throttle plate and opening are larger which is not a big deal (could be fixed with a grinder). But they also have a larger foot print at their base, which puts the sides of the carb over the edges on my stock spacer That's the deal breaker.

Most people that do this swap are doing it because they have rebuilt a later model head (with all its advantages) with the larger intake hole and decide to upgrade to the larger carb as well. So they run the later spacer with an Autolite 1101 and no mods.

Modifying the smaller head spacer to fit an Autolite 1101 can be done though, people have been doing it since the 60's. Take a look at the article "Horsing around with the Mustang Six" at http://www.geocities.com/hotrod_inline6/horsinaroundpart1.html, especially the part titled "Installing 240 Cu. In. Carburetor" (an Autolite 1101!).

Thanks for chimming in Scott. What's weird is the later carb spacer doesn't even fit my carb? Looking at your signature I guess I'd be curious as to what you used to mount the 1101 onto the 170 head in your 65?Thanks

I am running an early 70's 170 head on my 65 Ranchero, so it has the larger intake hole and I am using a stock late model spacer with no mods. You've got me wondering what carb/spacer you do have if they don't even fit each other, can you post some pictures?

I'm trying to figure out how to post photos? I've never done it before.Once I get it figured out I'll post them. If anyone is running an 1101 on early cylinder head,Please let me know what you did for a spacer? Thanks
