Availability of a SBF Bellhousing adapter

I am posting this question for a friend who currently has a bellhousing adapter for another Ford product, He is considering making an adapter for the 170.

"If someone were to make an adapter to put a standard smallblock pattern Ford transmission behind the 170, using the larger smallblock flywheel and clutch, would there be anyone interested in one?" Price should be about 4-500 for the "kit"

Here is some more info that I can pass along.
I have seen his work with the previous V6 adapter and it is a first class piece.

In a nutshell, the kit will not include the flywheel or bellhousing. What it will do is convert the back of your 170 to the standard smallblock pattern, including the crankshaft bolt pattern so you can use a standard or an automatic (C6, C4, AOD, etc) behind it.

There should be interest, but I'd fear the apparently high price could well kill sales prospects.

In reality, the cost probably comes out fairer when you consider what it saves in the way of trans adaptors and less common parts - but it's hard to get $500 out of people in one hit!

Another maybe could be making a bellhousing adapter only, of much thinner stock (10mm plate) - if possible. Then people could run an Aussie or Argentine flywheel with the smaller PCD but SBF compatible ring gear. Just space out the TOB by adapter thickness, and it's good to go. Autos would be harder to deal with - but honestly, the talk here seems to be more of T-5s than anything else.
