my crank is messed up. the journals all look and mike good. but the thrust face was worn about .040 into the face. and there was no babbit left on the bearing face. i replaced all the mains with standards. i end up with .045 endplay. i dont know how long it will last.
i will start collecting more parts now. at least a good crank. a whole rebuildable core if i can find one.
it looked like some shavings or dirt got embedded in the thrust face and acted like a machine tool to the crank. maybe the synthetic oil shook some grit loose ....probably a poor decision on my part.
at least i am learning a lot with this project..the hard way.
any similar experiences??
