So I took the car to Canadian Tire for an oil change.
I figure $30 and I don't get dirty.
After a drive the wife says you got a drip! I look under the hood and there's oil blown out of the back of the valve cover everywhere.
hmmm, I check the oil when it's cold and it's at the top of the fill line!
So where'd all this oil come from, you may ask?
I check the bill, and I've been charged for 1 jug@4.5l and 1 extra litre!! :x They 5.5l of oil in it! :stick:
Now I have to go deal with this cow manure.
My whole valve train is really clattering when cold now, whereas before I had only 1 "ticky" lifter. Is it possible the rocker arm could loosen up with alll that extra oil up there temporarily?
I'm going for new plugs and pcv+hoses and valve cover gasket. Anything else I should be checking on to get them to fix?

I once inadvertently overfilled our old Escort. I noticed smoke out the tailpipe and thought I had a real problem, but it turns out the excess oil was getting sucked into the PCV.

Might be your problem too. Oil tends to exacerbate ignition clatter.

And clean the engine compartment.

And apologize.

Then refund your money.

And apologize again.
