balancer pulley groove

had an interesting afternoon today. Started my car for the first time in a while, didnt have a problem starting, after a few seconds heard some knocking, scared me to death at first with the winter fuel and ignition problems rushing into my head fast. Then I heard something break and drop after hitting the gas pedal. Engine still runs and noise is gone but the disk for the harmonic balancer for the timing mark and pulley just fell off.

Now, is it possible to just replace the basket and put it back on or does this require me to get a new harmonic balancer cause well that just means I have to remove the radiator, drain it, get blades out of the way and possibly remove the grill if I am to see what I am doing.

Its a stupid question to slip it back on but just had to ask anyways in case its possible, probably not smart but still.

Also how difficult would it be to remove the balancer, any special tools required???

If I purchase the balancer off CIPP the way I described it would the core be refundable??

Food for thought.

Unfortuneatly you will have to replace it. They are pressed together with the rubber in between the two halves, something you cant do in the car.

You will need a harmonic balancer puller, and yes you will have to remove radiator, fan shroud, belts, (its really not that bad, shouldnt take more than a couple hours). Good luck.
