Best gas carby for my pre-crossflow 250?

At the moment I am running dual fuel, with a gas ring type thing that sits on top of the standard stromberg carb.

I know this isnt the best set up so I want to change it to straight gas.

I am after something that will give me better performance but no worse fuel economy. Well maybe a bit worse fuel economy if the performance is way better, I could handle that I suppose. :D

It would be good if it would bolt straight on to the standard log head.

Also should I use an upper cylinder lubricant?

What ather adjustments should be made to optimise the use of straight gas (eg. advancing ignition timing etc...)

Thanks

I run a 2 barrel Impco on a 350 holley base on a Redline 2 barrel manifold on my TF Cortina 250 and it pulls well and gives good economy, as for upper cyl lube, unless your running a cast iron head model, don't waste your money..........cheers Anton.

Yeah I have a cast iron head. And as an added bonus the inlet manifold is also part of the cast iron head. Gee, I'm so lucky. :D

So I can only use a single barrel gas carb on the inlet manifold I have. Unless I modify the inlet manifold, but I dont really want to do that.

So what is the best single barrel gas carb for me to use? And will it just bolt on?

Thanks
