someone tell me why this is a bad idea, specifically a YF from early 80s model (pre-feedback)

i have read that someone on here has done it before, i'd find the thread but i'm tired and am about to pass out

needless to say, i'm contemplating this because i realized that my new head (that i'm pretty much ready to start the engine with) has the large carb bore
so i'm boned for now

I can't remember if you are running cable throttle linkage or not, but that could be a reason you wouldn't want to as the 70's up carbs had a cable throttle "pull" configuration. Assuming you still have the stock 67 linkage, most people in your situation get an Autolite 1101 from a '69 Mustang with a 250. That one year saw the larger bore on the small sixes while still using rod type linkage.

i'm running the stock linkage, however i can easily grab the linkage from one of those trucks that i pull the carb from

and would you believe that not one junk yard in the area has a '69 Mustang with a 250 somewhere!?!?!
it's ludicrous! every yard should have at least two for an occasion just as this!
basically i'm workin with what i can find right now
