Does anyone know where I could get some bigger inlet valves for cast iron crossflow on intake. Im after something around 1.90" 1.95" inch.
Tim

Get some FERREA blanks and use cleveland single groove valve locks so you only have to machine a single groove instead of a 4 groove onto your
stem. Most of there blanks are 7 " long you will only need 5.31"(134.80mm) length .

Thanks David
I like the idea, does anyone know where you get these down in OZ?

Tim

All right then what about XF 1.84 valves (presuming they will fit). Where is a good place to order some of these?

Ours in NZ are made or supplied by ACL australia so any Repco or Suprcheap in Aus would have them using ACL part number #VI7115 = 46.75MM HEAD. around the $17.00 each NZ retail.

Finished porting bowls in head for bigger valves and had machinist check it for 1.84" valves and is ok. My misgiving is that I had lots of trouble today trying to track down an XF EFI 1.84" 46.75mm one piece valve (decided I do want a one piece). Supercheap did have some XF 1.84 two piece valves for $100.00 for six. He told me that up until about 4 months ago they used to make a one piece for the same price but because of extra manafacturing cost they have since ceased production and are not available.
Sydney speed supplies can do me a stainless pro-stock Chev BB 1.88 valve that will do the job but they want $30 min each for them which I think is just to much.
Does anyone know where to get these one piece 1.84"/ 46.75 mm standard valves from.
Dave, I dont mind getting them from New Zealand if there is some over there?
If they are this hard to track down Ill get the XF exhaust valves (or preferably 1.50" or 155"to be used with seat insert) in the same if there is some available?

Might as well get some of these as well. This is from one of your previous posts.
"Try cleveland 4v 351 Vee-Eight valve springs they should be the same"
spring is a single with damper 1.475" od..... 1.060 id of outer spring
id of inner is 0.930"
free length is 2.155"
solid height of spring is 1.140"
installed height 1.820"
installed pressure 110
pressure@.5 lift 280
max lift .640
These specs are for the uprated springs what are recommend if your using anything with more grunt than a stock cam ,get the uprated retainers as well as collets ,im sure clevo multi groove bits are the same.
CHEERS Dave

Thanks Tim

I will get on to it when i get back to the office next tuesday ,but for now im disappearing up to the far north for a few days of surfcasting on 90 mile beach

cheers DAVE

Sorry to trouble you with this but Sydney Speed supplies evetually managed to track down some black 46.75 1.84 one piece valves and exhaust valves from Austral for $12.50 each. Also had 351 4V 1.490 springs 110 seat pressure $100.00 and Crome Moly retainers for $80 all ended up being $300.00 with small discount plus $16.50 postage.
Sorry mate this was unforseen as I had tried them 3 or 4 times with no success.

Thanks Tim

Package arrived last Friday all intake valves were two millimeters shorter than standard valves (as was a 351 C intake valve i have). new ex valves were same length as intake valves and should be much shorter than the intake. All sent back hopefully they still may be able to track some down.
With new 2mm shorter valves and new 351C spings i cound only run .500 lift with .030 clearance before bind I want to run .510. pressure is 120 psi lose 10psi for new 110psi 1.820 correct installed were 1.740 with shorter valves.

There are better options. The Holden guys have always milled the 12 valve perches down and used stock 308 Valves in the early days. Some shops won't machine things like the spring seats because they can't be biffed. The Kiwi guys are the worst. They would rather regrove the valves than use better machining skills.

Hassle them. The difference is 70 thou between 351c and 250 x-flow. The existing seat can be taylored to bring the valve up to the rocker more, and my machinist, when I was doing some 4v into 2v 302 heads, told me he could adjust the effective valve spring height in that manner if I was prepared to spend more on a more significant 3 angle valve cut.

There are lash cups for push rods and other spring types with flat wound dampers could be used.

Guess What.
Oh how I wish I had gone and got all these items from Alloydave.
I waited and waited and no replacement valves could be found so in the end I sent all the goods back for an agreed full refund. The guy I had spoken with then went on Holidays and no one else knew anything about my goods that had arrived with them just after he had left for leave.
Eventually on his return he again took my details said it would take 3 to 4 working days to clear. Its now been close to a couple of weeks or more and no refund. I rang yesterday to check as to what had happened this time the guy i was dealing with has now disappeared for good and no longer works with them and my goods are probably lost under a mountain of other stuff. Oh and they dont issue reciepts despite my requests and many dollars spent on a previous project. Goodbye $300 dollars.
This is enough to put someone off doing a project engine at all.

These guys?

See if you can get buickroadster on PM. I think he has an "in" with 'em.

Spoke to boss ended up getting a cam from them as compensation. A Crow 214/214 at 50. Expensive cam at $300 but Im prepared to settle to get rid of this issue, as they have no records of my returned goods and cant find them. Cam arrived on 070405

Addo: Yes, those guys!

You might look up the spec on the Ford 260 V8 springs? I'm not sure but I'm thinking this was an upgrade spring that could be used on log heads. Could these possibly get you to your desired lift specs?

The springs I had or the ones from Alloydave will take the.510 lift this cam has providing the valves are the standard length.
