blocking heater core lines?

would blocking the heater core lines (temporarily) hurt the or over pressurize the cooling system? I'm cleaning up the heater box and I closed off the lines to the heater core.

you may not want to close them off because the preasure mght make them pop off. i would just loop them around on the block. like people do when they want to bypass a leaky heater core

They are pluged on the front plate with brass fittings.
