Blocking off SCV on carb?

Quick 8

I have a 68 distributor with dual port vacuum AND centrifugal advance. It does not have an SCV port.

I would like to swap this into my car with a pertronix ignitor in it. Currently I have a '65 200 with a loadamatic distributor I will be getting rid of.

If I swap to the newer style distributor, can I just block off the SCV port on the carb and still have it run correctly?

Any help is GREATLY appreciated.
Thanks,

Patience. All will be revealed in the fulness of time.

I'm not sure, but am fairly certain that you can just cap off the SCV port on the carb, run manifold vac to the distributor and you'll be fine.

That's what I was hoping.

I plan on replacing the carb at sometime too, but I would prefer to change, debug, and tune only one thing at a time so I easily deal with any problems that may arise.

I just figured I'd try to confirm it would work before causing a new problem.

That's a pretty smart way to go about it. In a pinch, a non-SCV distributor can be used with the SCV. But it won't run as well as it could. I have a Load-O dizzy right now, but don't have a SCV on my carb. No power whatsoever, but it runs smooth at least.
