Hey,
I am new to the entire "keep the 6cyl. over swapping a v8 into it" deal. I was reading about putting a blower on a six. Where could I get a good blower for my 66 mustang with a 200 in it??? How much do you think it would cost and what would I have to have done to it to make it streetable??? Thanx for the help
Matt

8) unfortunately there is no kit for installing a blower on the ford six. you can get the blower from paxton, or vortech, but you will have to fab the mounts for the blower, along with the pressure tube to the carb.

I kinda figured there wasnt a supercharger made for the six, but which would I get from paxton, one made for a ford 302, or what?? Also, how hard and about how much would doing this cost, all together. All the work, fabrication etc. Anyone done this that can help, you help would be appreciated.

The original Paxton is the one you want. They are cheap on Ebay because they don't produce enough boost for a modern V8.
There are also websites and forums for the proper care and feeding of the original Paxton.

I have been thinking about what was said earlier

I think that would not be so hard to do. I have not looked at my car yet to see how to fab the mounts but the tube to the carb would be doable I am sure. How much does one of the original Paxtons cost? Are they readily available? How much boost and horse power do they provide?

Even the later ones will work if you underdrive it to match your engine requirements. Actually might work better since you won't be creating as much heat in the intake charge.

You'll need to cut your own brackets and build your own air ducting to the carb. Check out the guys who are doing blow thru turbos for ideas on modding the carb.

Keep the CR to about 8.5:1 and boost to about 8psi and you shouldn't need an intercooler.

If you want to do something funky, take a look at this.

I don't think the bracket and tube to the carb would be very difficult at all. Just a little snip here and there and maybe some duct tape (just kidding). The hard part will be find a suitable supercharger. I have not started the motor yet, still on the body. When I get there if I just went with a good headder and carb would that be enough for good performance if I added a supercharger?

I think if my six can hold on and money can become available, i would like to add the aussie 2v head with a better carb by the end of the summer. Along with this I could possibly look into supercharging later on this up coming year. Being in school, I have a bit of a money problem, lol, so is there anything else I could do for relatively cheap that would help me performance wise. I hate getting romped on by little crap cars and would like to keep my six. I would like to supercharge, but right now, what would some good advice to help turn some heads with my six???? I have a dual outlet header on its way and I am thinking about dual 40 series flowmasters. I also have a pertronix ignition and spitfire coil w/ 8mm wires. Any help would be great and I appreciate all of your time!!!

Im not a inline 6 hater, but I think you might be better off with a fuel injected 5.0 HO, or maybe even a 2.3T 4 banger. Superchargers and carburetors just don't work well.

Superchargers and carburetors just don't work well.

that is not true at all. like any combination, the secret is in the tuning. efi and superchargers are easy to make work. but if superchargers and carbs didnt work well, ford, shelby, studebaker, and others would never have installed superchargers on their cars. you just need to take a little extra care when installing and tuning cabrs than you do fi

The headers and pertronix are a good start. Think about a new cam and tranny, that will really wake up the six cylinder. The aussie should be a nice wake up too.

Yeah, I dunno about the 4 banger Idea, Ide rather have what little pride I do in the six than putting in a 4 banger no matter how much power I may get outta it. 5.0 is a great thought, but its already been thought by me and decided against because of money and insurance. I just wanna keep the ole six and get some power out of it while it lasts. I ordered my headers earlier this summer, still nothing. Clifford performance headers, oredered directly from them, and still no word. Rediculous. Anyways, I appreciate the help guys, any one else with any ideas please post them!!!!
