If you go the cut a slot route I would suggest maybe finding an impact driver. Those things that you rap with a hammer($10-$15). they are good for stuck screw head fasteners as the impact of the hammer digs the hardened tip into the screw and provides a seal breaking shock at the same time--old Brittish iron required owning these as they were bad to sieze and the brits were insanely fond of fine threads and phillip head fasteners and without an impact driver screw heads were easily reamed out. Every flea market has them--parts stores too i would guess..

Got lucky! I thought I would just put on the new gasket and see what would happen. I had the old girl running for about 1/2 hour and no leaks from around the broken bolt hole. Now, I am on to the to the DII install and frame repair. Thanks everyone.

Yeah but what happens when you rev 'er up and run it hard?
I'm a noob here, so I was wondering if it can be tapped?
