Hi all
I have a great 250 head and want to get the most out of it. I am having trouble finding a machine shop that can mill the log for a 2V Weber set up.
I can get it polished and ported with a 3 angle valve job. Should I get the head work done first and continue to look for the mill job in the future. Nobody really has the experience with the mill work.

Any thoughts

If your plain is to go to a direct mount 2V than that work needs to be completed before you do a 3 angle valve job. As a reference there was a site member that did his own 2V conversion using a hand held grinder. good luck

Opps I got ate up here I have found a qualified guy in Vegas (go there often) that will do all the head work I need $2,000 but is 8 weeks out. That can work with the timeline I'm under.

No milling would be needed to install a Weber Carb.
If it was me I would enlarge the 200-250 large log head intake bore with a carbide bit in a die grinder.
Then I would enlarge a Vintage Inline's aluminum Weber adapter with a 2 flute router bit to match the enlarged intake bore of the large log 200-250 head.
Then I would install a Weber 38/38 2V that has two idle mixture screws.
If I wanted to run a Sniper EFI I would modify the VI Weber adapter to accept a small base Rochester type Sniper EFI.
Small base carbs and EFI throttle body butterflies are closer together than a Holley or Ford 2V.
The Sniper Rochester throttle lever would be easier to connect a cable throttle to than the Jeep BBD carb or EFI that have a forward leaning throttle lever that will hit the valve cover of a log six.
The large log head intake bore can be enlarged enough for a Weber 2V if the adapter is also enlarged.
Cast iron is easy to grind. Aluminum won't clog a 2 flute bit.
