C4 flexplate & TC fitment

Aloha folks, I've been working on converting my '66 200ci from a Fordomatic to a C4. She's just about done, but I have one more question:

Can I use a later model torque converter and flexplate with a 70' C4? A buddy gave me an mild-performance aftermarket TC which doesn't have the ring gears welded to it, and I'm trying to figure out a way to bolt it in. Everything fits, I just need a flexplate to complete the project. Is there a flexplate that will allow me to mate everything together, or am I stuck trying to hunt down a stock TC?

The thing is, the TC I have fits the input shaft and falcon bellhousing. It just doesn't have the ring gear. It seems like there should be some way to use a different flexplate with the ring gear in that application.

I did some more looking, and I can't find a single I6 application, even the 1980 mustang that came stock with the high-mount 200 I6 and C4, that doesn't use the bare flexplate. It seems weird that the I6 would have no performance TC options and can only use the older style, when every other engine/BH eventually moved to the flexplate gear design. I guess anything's possible, but it's kind of strange...
