You can get the Australian head through FSP and AZ Coupe, or I heard that Clifford Performance now has a new bolt on head and intake for our in-line 6’s. FSP also has an adapter for Holley carburetors. You may want to consider this option since several people have already gone with it and have worked out many of the bugs. Should you decide to go with the Weber 38 DGAS here are some part numbers.
Part Name: Part Number: Price: Notes:
Weber 38 DGAS Carburetor 08-k-202-f2 $ 499.00 This is a kit to mount the carburetor on the stock intake log. Clifford Performance can give you the price and part number for just the carburetor.
Dual out Headers 53-0186-f2 $ 279.00 This comes from Clifford Performance with the Port Divider. A dual out header is also available on the FSP site.
If you are using an Aussie Head, you might need an alternative way of mounting the carburetor to the intake. That will depend on the Carburetor and the head. The bolt holes for my Weber 38 DGAS and the intake were off by about ¼ of an inch. I had a machine shop make this adapter for about $100. The taller the adapter the less clearance you will have between air cleaner and hood support.
I used the Lokar throttle cable and trans kick-down cables. There is a way to keep the stock gas pedal and not have to deal with replacing your existing trans kick-down cable. It would involve cutting the mechanical throttle where it bends and attaching a cable there. I haven’t seen it, but heard it has been done. I had to do a little fabricating and welding in order to attach the cables to the carburetor. It took all of 15 minutes to get it done.
This is the pedal I got through Jegs. The pedal is made by Lokar as well as the cables. I also had to order a ¾ in riser for the pedal. Even though the pedal is adjustable, it kept hitting the carpet, so I just ordered the riser to make it look and work better. Unfortunately, I didn’t want to go with bright and shinny, but this is what was available. I will eventually replace the brake pedal with a matching pedal by Lokar as well.
I called a few salvage yards to see about getting the needed parts off a donor car. I got a few parts from one yard, but they were beat up, not really what I needed and the cost was almost $200. Thankfully, the guy was nice and after I sent him everything back, he gave me a $185 refund.
Here are the part numbers and prices from the Jegs catalog:
Universal / Adjustable Throttle Cable 0625TC-1000U36 $32.99
Trans Kick-Down Cable 0625KD-20C4HT $53.99
Billet Alum Gas Pedal 0625BAG-6004 89.99
Riser (Lokar pt. #) GPS-6014 $30.00 (+/-)
If I had all the parts at the same time, it may have taken me 1 full day to put everything together. I hope this helps you some.
