Cam Shaft dowl pin

I need a dowl pin for the CI cam shaft that I plan to use in my rebuild as the one from the original cam got too screwed up during removal. The part of the old pin that wasn't screwed up measured 0.250" diameter but the 1/4" dowl pin that we tried at the machine shop was too loose and none of the others that he had would fit. I searched this site and found a post from 2 years ago that mentions a #PF200-25 from the "pioneer" listing. Does anyone know the full name of the company and/or web address as the only Pioneer I know of makes stereos. If anyone knows of an alternate source that would also be helpful.

I know my local machine shop was able to source it locally as well. I would have guessed NAPA or CarQuest.

Anyone have an extra cam dowel pin they want to sell? I ordered one from O'reily's. They said it would take 3 weeks to get, now they just sent me an email telling me its unavailable. I've had everything back from the machine shop for 3 weeks and can't start reassembly until I find this stupid dowel pin that nobody makes. I guess I'll try NAPA next but this is the second time I've tried to order this pin and the second time I've been told it is unavailable.

one more try?

If not I'd do some research, calling your cam supplier to see what matl. it's made of and then go through mcmaster.com or grainger.com and see if you can find one(or a pack of 100)...

EDIT: Also, I havn't R&R'd a dowel pin before but when my machinest got my cam, he said it didn't come with one(Erson cam) and asked if I had a problem with him drilling a 3/32" hole on the opposite side that the pin presses in from on my stock cam and knocking it out with a drift punch. I didn't think what he told me would be so valuable, best luck in your search.

ozconv, I have one i can send I just sent you a PM . I picked up a couple when i was building mine, I have a friend who owns a machine shop he specializes in ford engines. he was the only one in town who had them. they are pioneer brand and measure .255 in diameter by .313 long.

The other alternative is to get a metal dowel rod from your local hardware store, and cut it to length for the pin. Works like a charm.
