Can a better Oil Filter reduce wear this much?

This is a direct quote off the internet from Michael Kaufmans, "Americam Motor Oil Training Company"

"Even though the extra dispersancy additives in a synthetic oil keep dirt and debris surrounded and impede contact with engine components, those contaminants must still be removed. This is where your oil filter comes into play.

First of all, the statistics previously mentioned regarding engine wear haven't changed. Studies have shown that the majority of all engine wear is caused by particles between 5 and 20 microns. Unfortunately, most standard oil filters are only marginally efficient down to 20 microns or so. That means the stuff that causes the most wear is still left in there. In fact, just a simple change in filter types/brands can easily decrease engine wear by 50% or more." [/u][/b]

8) one thing you have to be very careful of when selecting an oil filter that has a higher filtration than others is pressure and volume drop across the filter. it does you no good if the filter catches all the particles, but the oil pressure drops to 5 psi. how good is that for your engine. use a quality oil filter and keep the oil changed regularly, as wellas changing the airfilter regularly, and you should have no problems.

What do you consider a quality oil filter? I hear Purolator is good, though I've used Fram on mine for sometime now without any problems. Ultimately, I would like to use the K&N oil filter and see if there is any increase in HP or if the engine just runs better.
