Can a Offenhauser tri-power setup be boosted by a supercharger/turbo?Has this ever been done before? Is it even possible? Just curiious to know!

Anything is possible. Bill Stroppe did it in the 60's, but IMO it is two fairly complicated setups combined. Nothing good would come of it.

I think the easiest to tune setup would be to build a single pressure box around all three carbs, and then get your linkage set right. But it is going to be a hassle to tune.

Now if it was a fuel injected setup, you could have a single throttle body feed the three holes in the offy, with an injector mounted on each of the three pipes.

I would think the boost would be forcing the outer carbs open on a progressive setup and making it act like a synchronous setup instead.

I believe you could set it all up to be synchronous, but I could only image the headache of tuning both a boosted application as well as a synchronous. How would you even be able to measure the flow through each carb while it's boosted?

Ultimately, is it possible? Sure, anythings possible. Would it be worth it? Not for me anyway.

Howdy,

Are you old enough to remember 1960? This was on the cover of a 1960 Hot Rod Magazine.

It is a Paxton Centrifugal Supercharger, but you get the idea - as Tuck-n-rool said "ANYTHING is possible!"

i would think that the flow through each carb would be the same if there's pressure within the system
you've got 5PSI anywhere in the system, whether it be immediately after the SC, or at the inlet of the first carb, or the third, you'd just have to make sure they all have the same CFM

there might be minute variations due to heat loss, but i wouldn't think it would be that bad, and an intercooler should negate most of those

there's probably plenty of literature on this if you read the right book, adding FI to a multi-carb setup is nothing new
