car keeps stalling

im thinking that someting is traped between the needle and seat of the carb, its a 1904 holley, i know they dont like alot of fuel pressure so i keep it at 3psi, any other reason why the carb is flooding while im driving ?

Choke sticking or float is not set properly.

Are you sure it is stalling from too much fuel, or too little?

I once had the idle circuit on my carb randomly clog so it would only run if I kept it above 1500 RPM.

its flooding because i have to sit there with pedal to the floor cranking it over till it desides to start again then it idles fine, it leaves a nice black spot on the road too lol, ill check the float first, thanks for the info on the idle circuit too

i just read a post about a 1100 carb where someone was sayin that nos gaskets are not compatable with the new fuel, my 1904 is a nos m38 jeep carb, im not suer how old it is, there is no scv

If it's flooding, Definitely either your float, or the needle valve in the bowl is not seating properly.

Haven't heard the bit about gaskets. Honestly, I think people overblow problems associated with ethanol fuels. Don't get me wrong, I hate the stuff, but have found very little maintenance related issues so long as I treat my fuel prior to storage in the winter, and drain my carb down at the same time. It does play havoc on my small engines, but only if I let them sit for long periods with fuel in the tanks, as it would with my car.

my car seems to love ethonal based fuel, when i put shell in vs chevron, the shell seems to do better, but that was when i ran my 2 barrel, it does destroy my fuel lines though

well the needle and seat were a little corroded so i cleaned it out, the float looked ok but its still stalling, maybe it is the idle too
