Carb Accelerator spring

My 68 mustang, 200ci, autolite 1101 has a big old 6" to 10" accelerator spring that streches to the front of the manifold using a hook from a rubber bungee. Obviously not stock. I'd like to get rid of it and get something a little closer to the correct spring and correct mounting location. What size spring should I be looking for and where is it supposed to mount?

Not sure if it's stock or not, but mine looked stock - there's a hole in the rod attached to the accelerator. And there's a hole in the exhaust manifold-to-exhaust pipe flange. The spring on mine went between those two holes. Here is a pic (disregard the carburetor, it was not the stock one)
