carb adapter

I have a carb from stovebolt on my 66 200 with stovebolt adapter. Now I'm building a 70 200 with a 78 head and want to use the carb on it, but on cliffords web page it says to measure the carb mounting holes and they should be 3 5/8 center to center and mine are closer to 3 3/8. When I ordered the carb I ordered the holley and on the carb is stamped autolite. Can anyone tell me if clifford adapter 08-1640 ( adapts Holley/Demon 3 5/8 carb studs) is what I need. Thanks for any help.

The older heads had a smaller carb flange. The later 'Big Log' heads had the 3 5/8" bolt center.

If you got a carb from Stovebolt, it's probably the Holley/Webber 5200, right? If so, you need the Clifford part# 08-1650 for the later heads. The holley carbs have a wider bolt pattern.

Thank you WhitePony. As hard as I hear clifford is to deal with I didn't want to order the wrong part.
