Carb for 250 + Duraspark II

I have a rebuilt 69 250 block with an 80 head, 82 duraspark 2 dizzy/control module. Current carb is a 65 Holley 1940 1BBL manual choke. It's in a 63 Comet and hood clearance may be issue with the taller deck hight of the 250 (compared to a 170 or 200).

I think an autolite 1001 1 BBL (no adapter needed) would be shorter than a 2 BBL Weber or Holley/Weber (need adapter).

Any suggesions?

Thanks-

Hmmmm, thats a tough one, let me go get the measurements of my Holley 350 with the adaptor underneath it....

Ok, I'm back. The carb/adaptor assembly is 6.5 inches. I didn't include the air cleaner in that because a variety of short to tall cleaners are on the market, so pick on that works best for you.

If you really can't fit the double barrel under the hood than I think the largest single barrel carb was the '69 250 carb. And it just so happens that I have one of those exact carbs sitting in my garage doing nothing. So if you want to go the single barrel route the carb is yours of you pay for shipping....

Ya, the difference is night and day!!! Better response, more power, more torque. All this and I get roughly the same gas mileage...

You already have the head and ignition to support more power, but you'll really notice a difference when you put a better flowing exhaust system in it!!!!
