carb mounting bolts

Hi all,

Can the carb mounting bolts in a log head be unscrewed, or is this a cut, drill and tap operation? I don't want to wrench on this too much in case they don't.

Mine are miserably short, too much so for the Clifford adapter I bought.

D8 250 head.

The studs are held in with a coarse thread, some Permatex #3 type compound, and a little corrosion. Wind 'em out!
