Carb Question

I had a Autolite 1100(I think) on my 170 and am switching over to a Holley 5200 on my 200.
On the Autolite,the accelerator linkage gets pushed up to increase gas and the Holley 5200 is the opposite.
On my 170,all the accelerator linkage to the carb is a bar and not cable>How do I account for this difference?Are there any setups already to purchase or can I make the existing linkage work?

The best way is to mount the 5200 float-bowl-forward, with the throttle linkage to the rear, and replace your existing throttle linkage with a pull cable across the valve cover. You can snag a cable and pedal assembly from a later Maverick or other FordSixes, or some folks spring for something like a Lokar. I say that's the best way because mounting the 5200 sideways leads to fuel sloshing on turns which sends the air/fuel ratios lean on right turns and WAY rich on left ones. You can lower the float level or pressure and live with it, but it's not the *best* way.

If you want to keep your pedal and throttle rod, there are many ways to rig it. Have you searched the board? Lots of folks have posted some creative ways of engineering linkages. I'd direct you to a pic of mine, but it's a Ranchero and different from a Mustang (which I'm assuming you have).

Yes,you are correct.Its a Mustang.I never thought of mounting that way but I will give it a look.
