Carb Swap

I have a '63 head with adjustable rockers
on my '68 motor.

I suppose the dist. is not load-a-matic.

Someone put a Holley 1904 from a late 50's Ford on it
but I want something bigger that is a 1 bbl.

I know the original is an Autolite 1100 according to
my shop manual but this would have a Spark Cont. Valve
which is not compatible with my non Load-a-matic dist.

Any ideas on a bigger 1 bbl. carb swap without having
to bore out the spacer under the carb to except too big
of a throttle butterfly thing?

Thanks.

PS Does anyone know a tire conv. from a
6.5x13 to a radial tire of today?

Howdy Fairlane Fixer:

A stock '68 engine will not have a Load-a-matic distributor.

A Holley #1904 from the 50s should have a Spark Control Valve for a Load-a-matic distributor. Does yours?

All one barrels I can think of will either be the 1904 sizes, either 130 cfm on a 144, or 150 cfm on a 170 engine, or a wider bolt pattern and Tbore.

FoMoCo inline six from the 50s and late 60s is a 223. I do not know , for sure, what size Holley #1904 they used?

Adios, David

Pretty sure it has no SCV. Could not locate on on it.

I have an Autolite 1100 that I purchased but could not get it
tuned after hours of trying. Ex.: Mixture screw is bottomed
out all the way in and barely idles. When I unscrew it the motor
tries to die.

Wander if because it does have a SCV.

Is there anyway to plug it up internally and/or externally.

I was running a 1100 with a SCV and jus tput a pipe plug in the carb where the vac line came off and am using manifold vac to run my timing. (dual advance dizzy) all you need a 1/8" plug and a barb for the manifold.
