I have a '63 FALCON 170 auto.I changed the carborator.(3 carbs do the same thing also checke the gaskets on the adapter and carb)The carb on it now looks the same as original except it has an elec choke. The problem is the carb pops slightly when excelerated.Adjusted the timing.(same thing thinge).I'm begin to think its the dist.Could put an electronic dist on but won't look stock. Was there a electronic a maverick and did it almost look original.I have on off a Fairmount.Don't like the look. Thanks Ken N.

Yes,the rockers are adjustable had them adjusted and not sure if it was done right.Maybe some one could tell how to do it properly. Thanks Ken N.

I recently had to fix a POP on a 55 T-Bird. After much deliberation and inspection it turned out one of the lifters had broken. I assume it was due to either poor installation and bad adjustment or it was just age that did it. Anyway I replaced all the lifters and problem solved. I see that it has just been rebuilt.... pull the valve cover and check the rods.

The T-bird did not have hydrolic lifters so I had to adjust it differently than the mustang lifters. I could be wrong on this but I think you have to have the engine running when you adjust hydrolic lifters.... But that could prove difficult.. I don't know for sure as I have never done it myself.
