Been searching for a carb for my 1950 car 226, but that vacuum connection has made it a problem. I found 3 non Ford flathead sixes with the same-style vacuum port, 1 Chevy and 2 Mopars. Any hope for these as an option? Mounts "look" right.
Look on ebay, they are listed often there. The earlier 47 and before carbs have no distributor port as they used manifold vacuum to operate a distributor brake. They also have a smaller venturi than the later carbs. If an other carb will fit, it can work, but linkage changes will have to be made. Substitute carbs will also have a different vacuum signal pattern being sent to the distributor. These engines have only vacuum for advance so that would have to be worked out.
