How about this for a set-up.

I spoke with Tom of Stovebolt engines about the Carter-Weber two barrel on his web site. He said it was a smaller carb than the Holley 5200, he didn't know for sure but he thought it flowed just a little over 200 CFM. He said he didn't recommend it for a single carb on a 200 6.

But wait... what if you centered one on the log between 1,2,3, and one between 4,5,6. That would solve the problem of the end cylinders starving for fuel and since they are progressive carbs you could run them simultaneously. You could fab up a plate to cover the orginal manifold opening.

You could use the K&N weber snorkels to run a ram air package thru the radiator support with a remote cone type filter.

Is this do-able and most importantly tunable?

I would think this would be very doable. I'm not familiar with the exact carb you are refering to from Tom, but 200 cfm from 2 progressive carbs might be ideal, but I'm no expert. With a little grinding you could even weld a vertical plate onto your block off plate to divide th log into 2 sections. THat a nd a bit of patience would make it easier to tune.

I dont have a clue on how to tune them, but I do know it is "doable" :D :D :D Just mill a couple of flat spots on top of either a 78 or later head or a 69 "M" head, bolt a couple of aluminum plates on it and go from there.

Block off the center carb hole with another plate. I never could figure out the purpose of splitting the log into 2 seperate intakes. I was told to try it on mine and the only differance I noticed was it would idle like crap split in two

Make sure to grab an assortment of jets or whatever a holley/weber uses because you will be doing some plug reading and tuning before you get done with it!

Later,

Doug
