Carburetor Identification

Hi,

I need some help identifying the carburetor on my 67 mustang 200ci so I can buy the correct rebuild kit. There is a tag on the passenger's side that reads

Motocraft
DOPF L C 3H3

There are a few other identification numbers on the driver's side which are:

6F
3514B
A-6

Since it is a Motorcraft, I think I am going to either need the Holley 1909 or 1940 kit. I am leaning toward the 1940.

Thanks in Advance

I confirmed myself that I have the 1940 as it looks just like other Internet pictures of the carb and they also start with DOPF in the serial.

Picture below is in case anyone searches and finds this post.

Thank you for confirming Bubba.

Out of curiosity, is it common for a carb to develop a gas leak at the nut that holds the throttle? I have had to park the car until I get to the rebuild, but I am wondering if there is anything I can do to stop the leak so I can drive it until then. It only leaks after the car is shut off from running for awhile and the timing hasn't changed.

For me it was a fairly common to see, it would indicate a problem caused by one of these, a high float level, a float that is heavy, or a bad needle and seat. Unfortunately none of them can be fixed without opening up the carb at that point your also best to do a complete rebuild. It is also best to do it soon letting a carb leak is hard on the engine ie washes down the cyclinder walls. Good luck

Hi Bubba (or anyone),

Do you happen to know what thread the power valve is? Mine needs to be tapped. It wasn't 1/4 28, I am guessing 1/4 30, but don't have a nut that size.
