Carburetor --- Vacuum --- Ignition

Hello all,

I plan on adding a 2bbl Holley soon and upgrading the ignition -- the first of a number of upgrades. My question is this -- since I'm removing the stock 1bbl do I need to go to a DSII or can I go with pertronix?

I don't know if the vacuum hookup will still be there with the Holley (350cfm) to advance the stock Dizzy w/ the Pertronix points. I'll admit I'm a little unsure about my ability to line up a new dizzy if I did go to the junkyard and pull a DSII, module, etc.

Can I keep the Dizzy w/ the new Holley and find a new vacuum source for it, and if so, where would that be?

thanks,

Howdy Tom:

Your Load-a-Matic distributor will not function properly without the Spark Control Valve of the stock '66 Autolite 1100. But it will work. Hook the distributor vacuum line to the tuned port vacuum tap in the Holley.

To get the most out of your upgrades of a carb and an Ignitor, I's strongly suggest that you upgrade to at least a '67 or later distributor that has vacuum and centrifugal advance. The Ignitor is a good way to go, but as long as you have to upgrade distributors why not go with a DurasparkII while you're at it?

Adois, David

Thanks. I think I might try to find a late model donor car at a junkyard, pull the dizzy, wires, and module, and while I'm at it maybe the head for a little summer porting project!

I just didn't want to buy the pertronix II for ease of use, then prefer the DSII after the carb upgrade.
