Carter/Weber

I know we talk of Holley/Webers all the time. So I was to my COLD working garage and decided to check the progressive two barrels that I have stock-piled over time in anticipation of my next dual progressive carb head project.

I found I have one Holley/Weber, Two MotorCraft/Webers (with electric chokes - one came off of a '79 Pinto) and two Autolite/Webers (with hot water chokes)

So now I bought two NEW Carter/Webers from Stovebolt Engineering, and they are QUITE DIFFERENT from the H/W,M/W,A/W carbs that I already had.

Does anyone know any info about these? CFM? Jet size? etc? Or a web site?

The one on the left looks a lot like the Holley/Weber 5200 I got from stovebolt, but since the other one is the clean one I take it that is the one you got from stovebolt? I've never seen the one on the right. I would call tom at stovebolt and ask him if that's the case. He's a very helpful guy. The Holley/Weber 5200 32/36 is rated at about 270cfm. I know there are some really good websites about jetting, hopefully someone else here will post a link because I can't remember them. You should be aware that there are two different rating systems for jets for that carb: one based on diameter and one based on flow rate. Standard Holley jets will not work but you can drill and tap the carb to accept them if you want. Tom Langdon at stovebolt has jets that fit and will usually send you the jets you need for free if you send the old ones back (Provided you bought a carb from him of course). Otherwise they are about 6 or 8 dollars each.

Dennis, I sent an email to Tom at Stovebolt, hopefully he can give me some info, (CFM,JETS,etc.), If he does, I will post it here. I believe these were used on Suzukis, but not sure. I will let you know.

Dennis, Tom from stovebolt responded to my email last night, saying that He wasn't sure about the CFM rating on the Carter/Weber except that it was about 25% less than the Holley/ Webers. He also said they were used on early 80's Ford Escorts with the 1.6L engine. I am not sure that they would be a good thing as I can't find them anywhere with a search for them or parts for repairs.
