Casting number on harmonic balancer for '74 250?

Greetings Ford Six Fans,

Damper Dudes in California has agreed to machine the outer pulley off of a 2-V harmonic balancer for me, but they want the casting number of the balancer that I have on the engine now in order to ensure that they pull the correct part.

I crawled under the car tonight with a drop light and rotated the engine slowly with a remote starter switch, but I couldn't find anything that looked like a casting number. The only marks I found (in three different places) were: "No 5", "8", and "A".

Does anyone know if Ford 250 harmonic balancers have any casting numbers, and if so, where those numbers would be? Could they be on the back side? Under the washer?

Thanks,
Bob

Luckily I happen to have mine sitting on the bench waiting for my cam to be returned to me from Delta Cam. The casting # is on the back. Mine is a C9 DE 63 16 A2

Econoline -
how can I source the "third" bolt on shiv for the 250's 2 shiv HB.
Any ideas?
I may need the extra for my sno plow pump & 'on-board air'.

Thank you~

I have an extra bolt on pulley for a 200, are they the same?

I got no pic, hummm -

imagine a 2 groove, then an almost bowel shaped cover over it (flatter of course) w/the typical belt grove in it. I think the bolts hafta B longer but hold both? or may B there's some way they bolt into the stock pulley. "Add-a-Pulley".

Saw a pic here somewhere, couldn't believe it.

It's a solution for me, not sure on the availability tho.
$170 for a 3 shiv, this must B more affordable solution - the front of my engine is going to have to be totally re-configured ( possibly 6 pulleys) may even have an idler.
Haven't gotten there yet, assembly still to do, clean up the engine bay and still work it as much as possible a few more wks to month'n 1/2...

The one I have is a single groove pulley, that replaces the big/thick harmonic balancer washer AND has three holes that match up with the holes on the balancer that you use to attach a puller. It is from a 200.

it looks like this chad:

kouwell! But,
No
This is even another design, it's a cast shell sorta thing I saw here.
That one looks good tho. May B what i saw was NOT for the HB but 4 additions to other other pulleys?
Yours looks much beefer than the 'shell' style.

Whadda ya know - a 1 shiv HB w/o the elastomier inners.

I could use any of them.
Any id to that one U got? - so I could find myself one?
U sure it's balanced & can go on the HB? those "drillings" look like 'balancers'…

EDIT:
Oh yeah, I c some id #s on it now. How do you know it for a 200ci?
(40 yrs later we could have anything on these rigs). No rubber inside - looks like an ele motor (generator?)pulley...

Well, it is a ford part, it perfectly fits the HB on the 200 it came on, and the guy I got it from (the engine) pointed out to me the rarity of them. I have since seen a couple others. Yes, the drilling were to balance it, but as for if it is in "balance" or not, I can't say (This was a virgin engine, and I am nearly sure that is factory ford paint in the bottom of those holes.)

I believe these were for adding "optional" air-conditioning to cars at the dealer...

Nice!
post up the numbers, not that we could find it bein made today, but agin - for the community & our archive...

C2DE 6A312A and I just searched google for that, and it is for power steering, on the engines with a single groove pulley, from '62-'67, if it will help you, make me an offer.

Thanks,
I'll hit U up back channel.
seems like 50/50
costs as much to ship as purchase?

Yes Chad, I have the 250 bolt on 3rd pulley and I don't need it. It is different than the one pictured above. PM me with an offer if you want it.

From those pics, I can see that the mounting is different then the one I have, and mine would not work on the 250 balancer, I guess mine only fits 170-200 engines...

yeah, I guess that's what I meant by 'bowl-like". Thought the 1 I saw was a lill different again, but there can;t be 3 of these guys (each different) can there?
Y wont the 144 -200 fit a 250?

I've yet to figure the scheme for my motor's front so I'd pick em both up if workable…
(esp. it they'd go on the other pulleys as well as the HB).

the front of the 200 balancer is different enough from the 250 balancer above, the raised ring round the center pilot, is not there on the 200, and will prevent my pulley from mounting solid, unlike the 250 one above that fits outside the ring. I am sure it won't fit.
