Which generation is the alternator on a '74 250?

Greetings Ford Six Fans,

I would like to use the alternator brackets that came with my '74 250. Another consideration is that my '62 Ranchero was set up for a one wire alternator when I got it. So I'd like to find a one wire alternator that will fit the brackets from the 250. Is the alternator from a '74 250 "1G"?

Thanks

the ford alternator in that time was the 1G. there is a one wire conversion kit available for the 1G ford alternator, but it only handles a max of 55amps, of you need more than that, i recommend the later 3G alternator from the mid 90s. search the salvage yards for 5.0 mustangs, 3.8 mustangs, etc. that use that alternator.

I did a 3G swap, there is a thread here somewhere.
Great upgrade. There are two sizes. I have one of each, and the it turns out I needed the large one if I run without AC, and the smaller one if you have AC. But that's for a fox-body which may have different brackets than you.
