check valve for fuel line

I was reading through the archives about hard, hot-starting problems, and I saw that someone installed a check valve in the fuel line from the pump to the carb. What type of check valve should be used for this? Is there a fuel check valve made or would I have to use one for a different application?

Over here we have a RYCO brand fuel filter that runs a vapour return line to pre-fuel pump. Part number is Z102K. I don't know how easy it would be to get, but I believe Marco tracked down a similar one in SF. It's made to fit Mopars and Mitsubishis (1977-81).

Hope this helps.

For vapor lock you can get rid of the metal fuel line and use a rubber piece from the pump to the carb. Or at least use the least amount of metal you can. You can also sheild the fuel line with a wrap.
You can also put in a fuel filter between the pump and carb that has a return line that goes back to the fuel line before the pump. I do not remember what part number I used but just look on the wall at your nearest parts store. They have a few different ones. (Thanks Addo)

If you are having problems with the starter because of heat make sure the starter wire is at least 4 guage.

It's not the starter. It'll turn over fine when it's hot; it just won't fire up. It has to be some type of fuel problem (I suspect vapor lock). I have to pump the pedal a few times to get it to start (sometimes I have to hold it down). It acts (and smells) like it is flooding when I try to start it when hot. And the float level is adjusted properly.

I will probably try a phenolic spacer first along with a rubber gas line from the pump to the carb. Then, if that doesn't work, I'll try a check valve or the return-type fuel filter.
