Cold air in question

There is a lot of discussion on exaust size and legnht. But what I've been woundering about is on cold air intakes about legnht verse cross section verse friction verse air speed to get enough air to the carb/tbi. And since it is easier to push through a pipe then to suck thru one would it not take a bigger cross section intake then the exaust? I see all these ads about increase power by cold air but then if the cold intake is too small where is the gain? And don't useing flex hose mit all the ribs sloww things down?

When you're talking about before the throttle plates/blades, bigger is better. You don't want any kind of restriction there because it gains you nothing. And yes, those flex-hoses cut down flow to the equivalent of a pipe half its size.

On the Probe talk forum guys have found out that using a 2.5" inlet pipe offers better throttle response than using a 3" pipe.
