Ok, from front of motor to back, the figures are as fallows: 150, 145, 155, 157, 75, 150
..
th eplug from the 75 was completely fouled out (black and oily) while all the others were fine, and it seems to be burning coolant. Im hoping its a head gasket and not the rings. Any insight?

Man....

I know your pain but mine ended up being the rings. All of the compression rings and oil rings were completely destroyed on my 200 - literally. The only think left of the rings on cylinder number 2 were a few pieces. It had never been rebuilt but the cylinder head had been replaced sometime in the past.

I remember dreading the fact that it must be the rings. Everything else just couldn't be the cause of my low compression numbers and very rough idle.

If you plan on doing it yourself, take your time. But know this, new rings can make all the difference in a smooth running motor.

I had low compression in the number 1 cylinder and thought it was the rings. It ended up that the cylinder was out of round (slightly oval shaped).

According to the machine shop doing the work on the engine, this problem with the number 1 cylinder is common with inlines. Apparently, since it is right next to the water pump it does not cool down as well as the other cylinders.

The reason could be a lot of bunk, but it was an expensive repair nonetheless.
