Compression (not compression ratio) on 65 200 CI?

I have a 65 200 CI I/6 that needs some work. I am trying to find out what the compression numbers should be before I tear into the engine. I would like to avoid this if possible right now as money is tight (isn't it always?) and I just need to get the car moving again. If anyone knows these numbers and can either post them or mail them to me I would be most appreciative. :D

Thanks,

Bear

I'm away from my Chilton manual for actual numbers, but some general wisdom I've been taught is to look for consistency across the cylinders. For example, it 5 cylinders are at 120psi and the 6th is at 75 psi, you've got a problem in that cylinder.

If they're all at 75psi, then you've got a tired engine with some blow-by or some other issues, but at least it's wearing evenly.

This is possibly apples and oranges, but on my old Beemer bikes, excellent was 150, good was anything over 120, okay was down to around 100. Getting down into the 80's was generally not good.

I believe I read somewhere that your lowest compression cylinder should be atleast 75% of your highest cylinder.

If you have 200 on one, then all the rest of them would need atleast 150.
