what would be a acceptable psi for a compression test per cyl on a 170, stock CR

and no more than 20 psi difference between any of them....or else...

their about 87 to 90 psi #6 about 70 then i added oil to # 6 it went to about 80.// valve ? i hope not the rings

if the compression went up when you put oil in, then its the rings....

They're all very low. A factory fresh (stock) motor should show about 175-185 for all pots. For the readings you have, I am guessing both head issues and bore wear.

Buy a Shop Manual for your specific year and car. FoMoco did a great job listing all the good info/specifications you will ever need. My '65 200 was spec'ed something like 160-175 range. Sounds like a trip to the machinist is in your future !
