Thanks for the post (and esp the pic!) So U spin off the white housing and pull out a cartridge/filter? What does it catch from the motor/radiator? could you avoid any contamination in there by using distilled H2O instead - bypass all the extra plumbing? Asked in ignorance not to make a point...
i have a falcon that had sat around for years - the block was full of rust flakes etc .(didnt realise though)
first time i drove it at highway speeds the car overheated - rust had come loose and blocked the radiator.
so another radiator and best flush i could do with engine in car ( ie hose) and this time installed a the 'foot' of a womens stocking in the top hose and over the thermostat housing outlet ( and no - fishnets dont work!)
still there (reoplaced once or twice )and still catching little flakes in it .
if your stystem was squeaky clean - ie rebuilt and acid flushed block etc the with coolant it should stay clean - but if an old block i allways put the stocking in the top hose
if your filter only has 3/8 piping to it - it wont be full flow - it will only clean a side strream- thus any flakes may bypass the fliter and still end up in rad.
the flush and radiator-out-&-"boiled" clean (special bath) should do it 1 & for all. then the 'good radiator water' with the proper anti freeze/boil.. @ most a flush every 2 yrs. or so then on. Some place all sorts a additives, not me.
We can give U some excellent flush methods if wanted...
hello after 500 miles dally driver, removed my radiator for changing fan, i carefully checked coolant for rust, stilt, chips, before reusing, turns out its very very clean. happy with filter coolant system. good upgrade 8) cheers
close ball valves
(Kouwell!!! in more ways than 1!).
Some would not like the 'extra' stuff under the bonnet. The 2 worthy alternatives listed above R "extra stuff" too, but smaller...
