Corteco gasket sets from classic inlines

About to order a cam from Classic and I was thinking of getting a gasket set as well.

What is the crush thickness of the headgasket included in the Corteco set? I know Mike offers them in several thicknesses, but what is the regular thickness that comes with the kit?

How does this kit compare with Fel-Pro? Dad is recommending a Fel-Pro set for the rebuild, but I have never really been too fond of Fel-Pro on my previous projects with water-cooled VW's.

Also, who makes the best piston rings for the six?

I bought an engine gasket set on ebay for $19.99. Yes, $19.99! The set turned out to be made by ROL gaskets. I was impressed by the quality of everything, especially for the price. The head gasket was impregnated with a sealant to help prevent those dreaded leaks. Recommended.

I pulled off a Corteco head gasket when tearing down the engine. It seemed much thicker, and the silicone they use on their gaskets was messy!

FYI: The ebay seller's name is Reliant Gasket.

.

The Fel-Pro gaskets have a silicone sealer on them too around the water jackets. And every engine I have torn apart thats had one has come right apart once I took the headbolts out... like theres nothing on it that "sticks" the gasket to the head.

I'm familiar with the Fel-Pro "Print-o-Seal" gaskets with those silicone rings. But this Corteco gasket was different -- it seemed to have a layer of silicone completely covering both sides. The ROL gasket had a light coating of sealant -- nothing like the Corteco.

Of course, it is possible that Bubba put silicone on the gasket when he installed it...

It appears that the one presently offered, is a composite gasket with about 53 thou compressed thickness.

Which allows for a really cool amount of positive deck - at least 20 thou. :P
