Customs inlines carb hat

Just got my engine back from builder was trying to fit carb hat on autolite 2100 there is almost a quarter in gap need some advise on how to fit im sure its a easy fix but im not sure what it is I was thinking of trimming the top of the carb but was afraid that might change the way the carb works the only other things I can think of is adding gaskets to make up difference by the way inlines carb hat is great got the fully pollished one beautifull piece

after looking I do see I cant take any material off the hat will go all the way down but closes the carb plate about an inch mayby nothing to do except extra gaskets

do you have a few pictures? Kind of hard to give advice without seeing exactly what your talking about.

Hi tikitime.Does the piece on the carby that the threaded rod screws into to hold the carb hat on have an UPWARD curve to it?
If so try making one out of a FLAT piece of metal of a sufficient thickness so that it can be threaded for the size of the threaded piece that holds the carby hat on,that is if it won`t interfere with the operation of the choke butterfly.I think that the threaded rod is 1/4x28.
