Cut Off Log

Thanks for the site. It's on my favorites now.

That is the one that inspired me. Thank you!!!

Thanks!! :D :D :D

Among other things I collect all sorts of old magazines that have Ford 6 hop up articles in them that I get at swap meets, flea markets etc!

I just found another HotRod magazine (May 1961) that one of the staffers bought a new 1960 Comet with a 144 ci 6, then stroked it to a 170 ci then added a super charger to it and got 200 hp at the crank....just gotta make time to scan it and post it on my website!

Later,

Doug

That's insane.

Thats not insane it's inspirational.

I have a 200, I have 2 blowers, I have SUs, I have Holleys, I have a 250 available, I have a 230 cu in 4 cyl. I just need time and inspiration. The 4 cyl would be awesome, if it doesn't shake the paint off the fenders.

I have a spare 170 and a 250. Wonder if I can find a front motor dragster chassis and really have some fun!

You could build a lightweight one pretty easily.

The thought has crossed my mind. My kid out grew his Jr.Dragster and he still wants to race. A good 6 in a front motor chassis could run 12's.

I think a bone stock 200 with a 1-bbl could run 12's in a light rail.
I'm hoping for high 12's in a 2800 lb Mustang.

12's are not that easy to get with a six. Fred Hedthorn drove a front motor dragster with an injected Hudson 6 on alky and made hi 10's a few years ago. Mike Kirby runs Kay Sissel's twin injected Chevy (2-250 cu.in.) 6's and can get 7.60's with 12 port heads highly modified. Kay Sissel's 301 GMC powered T-roadsters run 9's (NHRA Record Holder) with 12 port head and lots of mods.

I ran a very modified '48 Plymouth 6 to high 19's low 20's in a 2700 lbs car.

A 200 inch 6 with a single bbl carb in a light dragster may be able to run 17's. There just is not enough HP and Torque to run a stocker faster.

Ak Miller ran a modified 200 in a Maverick (cam, 3 carbs, header, head work) to some reported high teen runs. A dragster may weigh 1000 lbs less, but ya still need HP
