All Small Six Cylinder head adapter plate

Hi everyone,

Recently purchased a 65 coupe, straight 6 automatic. Turns out the engine itself is later (1969). I was looking to locate and adapter plate to mount and autolite 1100 on the existing cylinder head as the orientation of the existing mounts are at an angle. I'm very new to any sort of mechanical work so bear with me if I ask ridiculous questions. Also a side note, I'm based in Scotland so may be more difficult to get parts over here. Thank you

Thanks, I'll see what's happening. I think with the new carb in os when I'll figure out throttle linkage issues etc. With my lack of knowledge ot will be a slow process.

Nice! Beautiful country. I have a high school friend in Glasgow now. My wife and I did a trip a couple yrs ago- made a big loop around the Uk. Started at Gadwick air port, up east coast to Mull of Kintyre, across to Aberdeen, back south to Lands End/ Sennen Cove then back to Gadwick. I like to refer to Scotland as the home of a proper pint!!

There is 2 different bolt spacings, 2-3/4 and 3-1/4 The smaller size is the one you mostly see offered up forsale. So check your bolt spacing and confirm the adapter is the same before buying it.

I have figured out what I need. From vintage inline (1V Carb Adapter (Small 1V to Large Log))

However it appears that the company does not deliver to Scotland. Which is problematic to say the least. Back to the hunt.

Not to make this any more complicated than it needs to be but… it would be a good Idea to get a little more info about your car/engine since there were so many odd things going on from 1965 - 1969.

I’m assuming that your 65 coupe was non-running when you got it? This is a Mustang? If I recall correctly, in 1969 Ford switched to an 250 inline 6 (for the Mustang). If you can find the number of the head off a casting and the number of the block (just below the exhaust) we can confirm the engine and the head you have.

Also, the distributor on a 1969 engine could be a Load-O-Matic or a Dual Advance distributor. It would be a good idea going into it, knowing which one you have. Load-O-Matic would be used with an Autolite 1100 so that is probably the one you have but all good things to know hen you get this thing running.

Also, I’ve been to Scotland a couple of times. My wife and I were there most recently in 2019; we went to Inverness for a week or so. We had a great time and took a tour to Sky. I think we will be back next year for a friend’s Birthday.
