i was reading a post you done eairlier about engine numbers.i was wondering if you could possably do a quick id guide for me(and everyone else)so i can tell what,where my engines are?i would realy appreciate this,i have a few x-flows and don't know if they were unleaded etc etc.

I've liberated some model codes and a production date breaker from the page.. if what I post doesn't make sense, check out the page, theres more stuff on there than what i'm going to put up here..

The engine code goes JG23YJxxxxxxx, for a Janurary 1981 Falcon GL/500 Sedan.. JG being where the vehicle was assembled (Broadmeadows plant being JG, Queensland being JH). The next two digits are the model designation, the next two letters are when it was built, and the numbers proceeding are the individual vehicle number.

You can consider anything built after june 1980 to be unleaded compatible, but post janurary 1986 is when it was federally mandated that all new vehicles were to be unleaded.

duz this only apply to falcons as the engine No on my 250 starts with CG
