Distributor vs. Distributorless Ignition

I am considering running an SDS EFI system on my turbo 200 build and was wondering if any of you guys had an opinion on the pros and cons of running triggered coil packs vs. a dissy? The SDS system can be ordered with the coil packs and it makes sense to me to run this type of setup but I would have to block off the dissy hole. Would this affect anything?

Here is the EFI kits. I know Will and Kelly run SDS on their Falcon but not sure on the ignition.

Thanks for any help!

You will have to run an unwired distributor or a dummy drive because the distributor also runs the oil pump.

check out the fantastic job a member on this forum did on his Falcon

Very few if any modern engines use a distributor, that must mean something.

As for SDS, they are a well proven but simple system. Minimum of bells and whistles, they just plain get the job done, unless you are super tuning an F1 engine. I'd be using it myself if I didn't need the option of modifying the firmware.

8) with a distributorless you get more accurate ignition timing, you can use a waste spark ignition system if you wish to gain a bit of power and better emissions and fuel economy. you also get a more reliable ignition. one more advantage is that you can program each cylinder independently, thus having one cylinder that fires at say 10 btdc, and the next firing at 11.5 btdc. this way you can tune each cylinder for best power, and make each cylinder make the same power as the others.

I dumped TFI in favour of EDIS many years ago and have never regretted it. Bigger spark, more accurate timing, etc. What's not to love?
