Guys, I think the pvs. owner of my 66 coupe but in a dizzy other than the load a matic.

I posted a couple of weeks ago about my Pertronix failue, the magnet was rubbing the module. I am certain I have the right module/magnet.

There is no way to mount the module to allow the vacuum advance to move and for it not to rub the magnet.

For comparison's sake I purchased from Autozoo a reman dizzy for a 66 200 w/o thermoactor it is definetly a different animal from the one I have in the car. I put my spare Petronix on the new dizzy and it fits like it should, no rubbing issues, etc.

The dizzy on the car has Motorcraft part # D0D(?) 12127 L. Any idea what this is or what it is out of

The dizzy in the car does not have any visible springs, I believe operates off of vacuum and mechanical advance.

This dizzy in the car not compatible with my Autolite 1100 with the SCV correct?

Given what I have what are my options here? Should I drop in the reman dizzy? (never heard any many good things about the generic remans)

Any suggestions/opinions appreciated. Sorry so long. this is a 66 200 with the autolite 1100 with a SCV.

thanks!

just a quick note - my petronix failure was due in part, in my opinion, to the module rubbing against the magnet sleeve...both pieces were lightly scuffed from what appeared to be continuous contact...

from what i hear of the generic reman. dizzy's the one's done by A1 Cardone (based here in los angeles) are pretty solid...but then again, buyin a reman. dizzy for 50 bucks is the cheap route so you get what you pay for in my opinion.

sorry i can't be of further help...but i just had to chime in.

D0 code tells its a 1970 unit. Should have dual advance, and a dual vacuum canister, and could originally come from any 200 or 250 of the time.

NO, it won´t work with the 1100´s spark control valve like designed, and YES, it can be set up to work satisfying.

There are different opinions on whether to run stock advance springs and the vac advance on a regular ported vacuum source (which the SCV-equipped 1100 lacks) or light springs and vac advance on manifold vacuum.
Understanding the basics of ignition, ignition advance and how the different distributors work is mandatory; tayloring the distributor to match your engine, driving habits and tuning goals is helpful and recommended.

getting the correct load-o-matic distributor for your 1966 application would be the easiest way of solving your problem.

Do a search on this topic.

CZLN6, wsa111 and leroy poll, among others, have contributed a lot of valuable information on ignition.
