I have a 67 200. I have seen people with a k&n chrome oil cap without the hose running to the air filter. What is the purpose of this line and can I get rid of it?

As far as I know, this is an emissions hose. It basically circulates gasses from the engine back into the intake to be burned. I have heard that this was a California thing, and it was on my car. I eliminated it because I just like the look better without it. Hope that helps.

The PCV is at the rear of the valve cover and goes to the carb base. The breather cap and hose is a safty feture in the event that your PCV becomes cloged or overwhlmed, your crankcase will vent through the breather cap and keep you from blowing gaskets and developing leaks. If you elimimate the hose, replace the oil cap with one that has an open eliment bottom.

ya, I think you can replace it, if it can do damage then I'm screwed but I guess thats what you put up with to be cool... lol sounds like a ricer thing....
